Ankylosing Spondylitis
What is Ankylosing-Spondylitis.co.uk?
I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) in 2010 at the age of 34, after more than 12 years of chronic pain, miss-diagnosis and self-funded treatments and incorrect exercise.
I was diagnosed by a blood test looking for a particular gene and an MRI scan. At an AS conference in 2011, I learnt a the blood test has been around since the 1970’s, which means it was an option from the outset so I could have been diagnosed much earlier, had the proper pain relief and exercise I needed, releasing me from my daily chronic pain. So why wasn’t I tested earlier?
This aim of this website is to help increase awareness of AS, support and compliment research and organisations involved with AS and offer paths to a pain-free future for thousands of people around the World.
Thanks for visiting,
Darrell
